"I enjoyed our principal. He was so outgoing and truly loved each and everyone of the students. He cared for their well being and wanted them to be ready for the future. However the rest of the administration was horrible and I'd love to see them all get fired. If I had to change something else about the school I would change the person who gets to decide which teachers get hired. I am lucky enough to say I had probably the two best teachers my senior year, for AP Calc and AP Phyiscs. However the rest of my teachers would assign no work and when they did it would just be busy work that did not have any value to the class."

"Half Moon Bay High School had some great teachers that I personally really connected with. Those few teachers and staff members really helped me get through my four years of high school. The counselors were also great in helping me be eligible for a four year college. If I could personally change something at this school would be giving some programs new staff members such as the language program. I had a bad experience in the French classes I took my junior and senior year. I would of also like to see more emphasis on other school activities that aren't sports related."

"I love that people there are very energetic & entusiastic. The teachers really do make the effort to teach their students. They don't hesitate to help. They just do. Our Principal is one the major factors in our high school. He has this vibe, a vibe that doesn't frighten you but makes you feel part of the community. A person who believes in others and helps as much as he can."

"I have had the most amazing 4 years at HMBHS, it has really became like a second home to me! With my dad being an alumni from Half Moon Bay it makes me going here that much more special, and I am so proud to have been a part of this school. HMBHS has not just developed me as a student but as a person, the humble and friendly nature of all the staff has made my time here truly remarkable. I could not have asked for a better platform to allow me to flourish in the real world. Half Moon Bay will always have a special place in my heart; I'm sad to leave my life here but I know this school has paved the way for me to have a successful and forfilling life. I will forever be thankful to the staff and administration of HMBHS because they are truly the sole purpose I am the person I am today. Like they say, once a cougar always a cougar!"

"I transferred during the middle of my junior year because my mother got a new job. Half Moon Bay High School is small like my old school, which should have made it feel like home. There are few new students each year, so I stood out. Unfortunately, the school had no buddy program to help new students, the teachers treated me like I was a burden because classes at my old school were in a different place in the textbooks, and I was expected to figure out what I needed to know. You would think it would get better by the start of my Senior year, but everything stayed the same. I was in band at my old school and it felt like a family. At HMBHS, it has so many cliques and "in" groups, it feels like a dysfunctional family. There is no place to fit in if you did not grow up in the area. There are no resources to help you adjust and it feels like no one really cares. The only good thing is that the experience has taught me what I need to know to go away to college."
