"This school is the worst thing that can happen to a teenager, especially the boarding school. During my time there, 7 kids were molested, 3 attempted suicide, and no one got into a decent college. Academics are weak, bullying is promoted, and their version of evangelical "Christianity" is shoved down your throat. A joke school with false morals and a sanctimonious staff. This place is awful. You'd be better off sending your child to a gulag."

"This school was the absolute worst experience of my life. For years I was bullied (physically and emotionally) and the teachers/administration did nothing. The dorm was like a prison. I remember the R.A.'s used to humiliate me and gossip about me with the other students. The Dorm mother at the time was a narcissistic bully. I am surprised parents still send their kids to this God forsaken place. If you are not rich and white you won't fit in. This school was extremely cliquey to the max. Rumors, gossip, and public humiliation is what they thrive on. Needless to say I was a complete loner my time there. I remember this one volleyball coach would constantly stare at the star athletes a$$...he was a complete creeper. I did not feel safe at that school at all."

"This school has its pros and cons. It has students from more than 14 different countries, including Nigeria, China, Mexico, Honduras, Korea, the United States and Canada, so students are exposed to many different cultures. The amount of diversity in the student body and different ways of life is something that is entirely unique to it. Students are encouraged to participate in multiple activities throughout the year, unlike many other schools. School activities that are offered included football, basketball, soccer, tennis, golf, swim, volleyball, cross country, track and field, cheerleading, art, photography, National Honors Society, International Student Organization, Junior State of America, and the JROTC program. There is always something to do. The best thing about the school is the student body itself. Everyone knows each other well, and it feels like a huge family. On to the cons... To start, there are so many pointless rules. Sometimes it seems like people get in trouble for doing absolutely nothing. Punishments are extremely harsh, and not everyone is treated the same way. Also, some activities are mandatory to participate in. One particularly awful event are LEAD days. They consist of all students and faculty coming to school on a Saturday and doing something or other. Who wants to go to school early Saturday morning? Along with that, students have to endure chapel twice a week and take religion class. And last but not least, the teachers. Some are amazing and make class bearable, but most of them aren't..."

"As a high school senior, I am just ready to graduate. Throughout the years I've had some good memories with my friends and during sports. If I had to choose if I would go to this school again, I would choose no. As a said before, I am just ready to graduate already. I am ready to receive freedom; and quite frankly, there are just too many rules at San Marcos Academy that restrain students from doing the simplest of things."

"I prepared myself most of the time by self-instruction and education. The classes were not challenging, even the college and AP ones (most students failed AP exams). I tried to educate students on political affairs and world events by creating clubs and promoting such education through student council, but was regularly thwarted by the admin for my "liberal bias." I settled on creating JSA to promote nonpartisan debate, even though I had originally wanted to create a political trifecta of high school Dems, Republicans, and an independent political club."
