"First entering high school at BHSA, I was honestly a little disappointed in the the lack of extracurricular activities and how disorganized the school was. There were also some incidents that made me question the school's safety. However, as the years progressed, the school started to change for the better. We also have a new principal that just brought a breath of fresh air to our school's community. I can honestly say that the school feels much safer, is a lot more organized and we have grown closer with the new after school clubs and activities. Last but most certainly not least, I love my major. I'm a music major and the music program there is so good. It motivates me to want to school and do better each day in everything I do at the school."

"My experience in bhsa was okay, at the beginning I enjoyed the dismissal time, then they made are days longer as he years went by unlike what other schools do. However, my senior year they have changed the principal and organized the school way more now they're different clubs and students don't misbehave as much. Overall, it's what you make it and your love for your art that keeps you going."

"I loved Brooklyn High School Of the Arts. All of the teachers were very warm and friendly. Almost like a second home to me. I would like the school to change the lighting in the hall ways, It is way too dim you can't even see the students art work clearly that hang from the walls"

"As a senior at Brooklyn High School of the Arts, my experience has been alright. Concerning academics, some student do really well, including myself, and others do not. However, as long as you study, and do what you are supposed to do as a student, you should succeed in academic classes. There are no sports teams, probably because it is a performing arts high school. Therefore, students who are a part of the basketball or volleyball team play for John Jay High School's sports teams. The school is not that diverse because it is predominantly African-American and Hispanic/Latino. There are few White and Asian students, but not many. Unlike other high schools, we have some useful resources. For example, every student that is enrolled in an AP class, gets to take the AP exam in May, absolutely free of charge!"

"I enjoyed having a major involving the arts with academic classes because it made me a well-rounded person intellectually. Also, both teachers and advisers push you to do your best in all classes and help students find the right scholarships and college for them."
