I spent the first 29 years of my life in Oakdale, CA where I was born. I moved to Hornitos in 1990 where my father and I had been grazing our cattle for about 6 year prior to moving there. We have a herd of about 200 Longhorn cows. We raise the calves for jackpot team roping. I've cowboyed on most of the ranches in the Hornitos area. I've helped my neighbors drive herds of cattle up to the Yosemite Park boundaries and back to Hornitos. I build spurs and bits for horses. I also hunt locally and fish in the many lakes in our area.My transition from cowboy to Realtor was a fairly smooth one. Some of my cowboy skills in negotiating, learning about area ranches and agriculture have come in handy in the real estate business. I am very familiar with most of the ranches in this area, and although my expertise is in horse and cattle property, I would be glad to assist in any type of Real Estate.

I was a San Joaquin valley girl before moving to Mariposa and would frequently drive up here just to have lunch. I could never get used to the valley fog and I knew driving up the hill would put me in the warm sunshine and beautiful blue skies. But it wasn't only the beautiful scenery and peacefulness that brought me up to live in Mariposa four years ago; I also wanted my son (then in middle school) to experience a "country school". I quickly found a big difference compared to the San Joaquin valley town where I lived for 30 years. No gangs, no graffiti, every one knows everyone, and my son loves the "snow days" in winter. You really don't notice it at first, but after a while you realize there is no airplane or traffic noise, and only the occasional helicopter and siren off somewhere for a fire or medical emergency. The simple homey things like the sounds of the bell ringing at the Historical Courthouse every hour is music to my ears, and the fact that the local newspaper only comes out once a week are part of the feeling of stepping back in time.Did I mention how clear the stars are at night?I've spent most of my life working in an office doing "secretary type" work, but my heart kept telling me I needed more adventure and with my drive and independent spirit I knew that selling Real Estate was for me. I work with my partner Cary Griffith (Cowboy Realtor). He specializes in ranch property and land. As for my personal interests I am pretty simple. I love horses, hiking, fishing and spending time with my kids and grand- children. I also attend Yosemite Church in Merced.

Judy grew up in the San Joaquin Valley (Dos Palos) on a small dairy. She and her siblings learned to help their parents milk the cows and do all the other chores that are part of daily life on a farm. Some of her favorite times were visits to her aunt, who lived in a small mountain town. Judy fell in love with her aunt's town and hoped she would someday live in just such a charming, historical locale.Before she and her husband John sold their ag-related business in Firebaugh, they purchased some acreage just above Mariposa.in Midpines. It was close enough to visit on weekends, and after a time drilled the well, parked a travel trailer, and spent weekends and other free time enjoying their property and getting to know Mariposa.Finally, in 1995 they were able to build their dream home and move here.If your dream is to live in a small, scenic, friendly town..Judy knows how to do it.
