Love our area and I am lucky to call the Grand Strand home! I am married to Joshua Brookshire and have two precious sons, Jackson and Lucas. We settled in Conway with our two dogs and are avid lovers of the beach and inlet. If you need any help buying orselling your home, please contact me!
I am Katie Brookshire, a third generation realtor with Century 21 McAlpine Associates. My grandfather started our family company with my mother, Nancy M. Lee in 1987. My grandfather, James P. McAlpine, believed in hard work, loyalty, and good service. I remember him saying things like "the only difference between good and great is an inch" and "hard work has never killed anyone." His determination to serve the public and serve them well is what we still strive for today!
I am proud to be from a family of realtors. When I was only 18 years old, I received my real estate license and started to learn the family business. I received my Graduate Realtor Institute designation and with my mother's guidance, I have learned the importance of home ownership, how to offer the best service, and how important real estate education is to serve my clients well.
After selling real estate in Charleston and Myrtle Beach, I have settled into our Conway office and hope to help continue my grandfather's legacy.
I love all sports, from the rugby of my college years to the Tae Kwon Do practiced as an adult, where I earned a third-degree Black Belt. I approach life from all directions, so I can see things from other people's perspective, whether buyer or seller. The next cycle for me is to learn your story.
Life is cyclical but ever-changing, providing opportunity to use our knowledge as we meet new challenges. i love to learn and grow, holding onto my values while adding new insights. I am originally from South Carolina, but grew up in Pittsburgh, so I am proud of my southern heritage, but understand the pride of people from the industrialized north. Of course, I still vacationed at Myrtle Beach every summer, establishing my love for the coast. I returned to earn an Engineering degree at Clemson, completing one of my first major life cycles.
I also approach life from many angles so I don't get trapped into one method of problem-solving. After serving in the Army at Ft. Knox, I earned a Master's in English from Texas Tech University. Not done traveling west, I spent the next 20 years in California where I was engaged in a Real Estate career in home loans, first as a retail loan agent in 1992 and later on working directly for the banks. Upon relocating to Conway, I've reestablished my love of the southeast and am overjoyed to use my experience to help people find the appropriate home, which goes beyond making a wise financial decision, and includes the social goal of linking neighbors.
I'm a family man, in love with my wife, Nora, and proud of my son, Chance. My mom lives here in Conway which is why I returned from the west, and because we wanted to raise Chance in this area to provide the value system we hold in such high esteem. I've always been an avid reader, especially classics, and now I spend my time reading different Bible translations, studying it's classic wisdom. I'm a born-again Baptist, having been a Presbyterian in early youth and raised as a Catholic, while espousing humanistic beliefs in between. Again, I recognize a major cycle in my life and know I needed to experience each stage to grow.
Hello! It's another beautiful day at the beach, or as I like to call it home. As a lifetime local resident I can offer a unique perspective of The Grand Strand and surrounding communities, the current market and trends.
If you would like to buy or sell a residential or commercial property or land, I can help. It's always nice to travel, but there is so much to enjoy here I couldn't imagine living anywhere else...and like the saying goes, there really is no place quite like home!
