Both are graduates of Albion College. Tom taught science at Elk Rapids Schools for 30 years, retiring in 1999. Susan is also retired from teaching, after a 30 year career in early grades at Lakeland Elementary in Elk Rapids. She is currently operating the family self storage business, Pad Lock Storage, with 3 locations in Elk Rapids. The family also owns and operates a small manufacturing business in Elk Rapids, Paddlebuoy, manufacturing and selling paddleboards, since 1974.Tom Wiltse has been an active Realtor since 2000, and has worked extensively with banks and asset management companies with bank-owned listings and sales since 2005. In addition to this specialized area of real estate, Tom and his team are quite active in the listing and sales of "fair market" residential, lakefront, and second home properties. With the able support of his competent staff, Tom is able to cover a wide range of the real estate market in the north. A little about myself .... I was born and raised in Mid-West Michigan (Big Rapids area) and have lived in that area and Northern Lower Michigan (Gaylord/Traverse City) all of my life. I graduated from Big Rapids High School and then attended Ferris State University in Business and Hospitality Management programs. From there I found myself in an unexpected but long and fulfilling career in management for McDonald's Restaurants for 16 years. McDonald's consistently taught me new and rewarding things not only about business but people and how to truly satisfy customers and be successful personally and professionally. I worked at every level from entry level management to 10 years at the General Manager and Area Supervisor levels. When I made my decision to pursue new challenges professionally I went looking into another career I had always had a passion for and interest in and that was real estate.
