Each jurisdiction has its own unique building codes when it comes to newly constructed facilities. In order to make sure these new buildings meet local requirements, it is necessary to have the structure inspected before it is occupied. The person responsible for conducting these inspections is known as a building inspector. A building inspector typically works for city or county governments. Before a new residence or commercial building can be used for its intended purpose, this inspector will approve the construction. Once all the work is complete, the building contractor will make an appointment to have the building inspector look at the property. When doing so, the inspector will check a number of things including the plumbing and electrical connections. If any deficiencies are noted, the inspector will give a detailed report listing the items that are not up to standard. A later inspection will then be performed after these deficiencies are corrected.
