My wife and I were in a social setting with John and casually brought up we were starting to look for homes in the area. He told us he was a broker and about the area, the current market and a pretty broad set of related topics he seemed to have good personal experience with. We told him we were first time buyers and so he used language appropriate to us so we sat down and told him what we were looking for and agreed to start looking together. John immediately honed in on just the type of homes and areas we were interested in. I don't think he ever took us to any homes that didn't really fit our criteria.
The market was pretty weird this year and we had several places snatched out from under us by people paying way above asking price and in cash. Despite this I consider our experience as first time home buyers to have been very smooth thanks to John and our loan officer (who both worked well together). John was ALWAYS available to take us to any property even on very short notice and to random and remote areas at times without so much as a complaint or grumble. He also helped us understand the nuances of negotiations, contingencies, etc so we felt like we knew what was going on during any given phase.
We would work with John again and are certainly recommending him to anyone we know who is looking for a broker in the area....
