The Natzler Residence is offered for the first time in 80 years. This 1937 home in Upper Nichols Canyon served as both sanctuary and working studio for Gertrud and Otto Natzler, among the most important ceramicists of the 20th century. In light-filled rooms overlooking treetops and canyons, Gertrud threw delicate forms on the wheel they brought from Austria while Otto developed the groundbreaking glazes that defined their partnership.The main residence includes two bedrooms and two and one-half baths, a living room with fireplace, dining room, and a kitchen with ceramic tiles glazed by Otto Natzler. In 1988, Otto commissioned a two-story addition inspired by his Austrian roots a contemporary nod to an Alpine chalet designed by architect Alfred T. Wilkes, AIA, for photographer Gail Reynolds Natzler, his second wife after Gertrud's passing in 1971.
