About 140 years have passed since the founders of the Gum Springs Schoolhouse and the Prairie View Cemetery came to these parts, and reminders of their presence still exists today. Although the church and school are gone, the land that hosted these early pioneers still exists with fertile soil and underground water, a settler’s best combination. Sitting near the cemetery, this property is now set up for the modern rancher. Cross-fenced, earthen tanks, water troughs throughout along a series of waterlines originating from the the two water wells, and a set of working pens. Cross fenced in to five total traps, each with its own water trough, and three stock tanks. Separating the improved grasses is a belt of pasture loaded up with wild plum thickets.
