This period revival style was thought to have come to the U.S. when soldiers returned from Europe in WW1 and saw French and English styles which they loved and wanted something like it when they came home. This was built and valued in 1919 for $6000 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996 as a significant property in the Gilmer Park Historic District where the first Country Club was built in Utah. Gilmer Park was named after a local Suffragette named Mary Gilmore who also helped found the Ladies Literary Club and the Sarah Daft Home. It is known in local historic records as the 'Edgar and Hazel Hawley House', and you will faint when you see the Art Deco tiles (original) in the upstairs bathroom.
