David Combs is a lifelong resident of Rocky Mount, NC, whose deep roots and unwavering dedication to the community have shaped his distinguished career in real estate, public service, and civic leadership.He is a proud graduate of Rocky Mount Senior High and East Carolina University, where he cultivated his passion for community involvement and leadership. He is an active member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, reflecting his commitment to faith and service.
Real Estate Achievements David’s real estate career is marked by numerous accolades and leadership roles. He has been recognized as Rocky Mount Realtor Associate of the Year (1989) and Realtor of the Year (1991). He also served as President of the Rocky Mount Board of Realtors in both 1990 and 1996. A highly credentialed professional, David holds the Graduate of Realtors Institute (GRI) designation, is a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), and a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM). His expertise and dedication to the field earned him the Chamber of Commerce Small Business Person of the Year Award in 2005.
Civic Leadership & Public Service David’s impact extends far beyond real estate. He served as Mayor of Rocky Mount from 2007 to 2019, following a term on the Rocky Mount City Council (Ward 5, 2003-2007). During his tenure, he co-chaired the Housing Task Force for Rocky Mount and contributed to economic growth and development as Chairman of the Rocky Mount Business Development Authority and a member of the Board of Directors for the Carolinas Gateway Partnership.
David has also been a strong advocate for municipal advancement through his roles with the North Carolina League of Cities and the North Carolina Metropolitan Mayors Coalition.
Community Involvement David’s commitment to the Rocky Mount community is unparalleled. He has held leadership positions in numerous organizations, including:

He has served on the Board of Directors and as Membership Chairman for Benvenue Country Club, fostering connections and community spirit. His leadership, dedication, and passion have left an indelible mark on the city he calls home.
