Shelley Abernethy moved to Oak Island/ Southport in 2016. The coast has always been her destination.
Originally from the Charlotte, NC area, she grew up in Belmont, then moved to the beautiful town of Mount Holly where she was a graduate of Belmont Abbey College with a teaching degree and was involved with many local volunteer organizations.
Upon moving to Oak Island/ Southport, she worked for the Town of Oak Island while taking real estate classes.

Keeping it brief will be extremely hard ! Simply put, Shelley Abernethy worked her tail off for us. My wife and I are 4 hours away from Oak Island, so we leaned on Shelley very hard for her local knowledg, eye for houses, and her videos she sent us when we could not get to the island were extremely helpful. I thought my wife and I were very demanding and sometimes quite undecisive, but Shelley guided us through with ease and professionalism. Would I use her again, YES !Would I recommend her to friends and family, ALREADY HAVE ! My wife and I are over the moon happy with our island home and as we have already relayed to Shelley, we both are kind of sad that the home search part is over. Job Well Done Shelley! It almost feels like we're family now.
