I’m Joe Kowalczyk, a licensed Real Estate agent in Maryland with CENTURY 21 New Millennium and a certified Military Relocation Professional (MRP). I am also a retired U.S. Navy Veteran who upon retirement decided to make Maryland my home, due to the state’s rich history, access to multiple recreational activities, and moderate (winter) climate—a place where you can enjoy all four seasons. On a more personal note, I have been happily married for 24 years and have a son who is in his first year of college. We settled down in Southern Maryland after I retired for a number of reasons, but primarily my wife’s family lived there, and the D.C. Metro area had fairly robust job market. If you feel compelled to escape for a weekend retreat, you can be skiing in the mountains of West Virginia, pitching an umbrella on a sandy beach in Ocean City, or viewing fall foliage in the foothills of Virginia or Pennsylvania within 3 or 4 hours. Closer to home, you will find an endless list of historic sites, museums, nature trails, and other family-friendly recreational activities.
I served my country for 26 years, so I know the stress and challenges military families incur relocating to another military facility and getting settled in a new environment. I know because I moved my family a dozen times during my military career. Finding a new home when base housing is limited, getting kids started in a new school, what’s the job market like should your spouse choose to work, daycare availability for children not in school, and commuting distance to where you can find affordable housing. These, along with countless other factors contribute to the anxiety military families, as well as most families, endure when relocating. I commend your commitment to serve and the sacrifices you’ve made in defending the liberties Americans enjoy. In recognition of your service, past or present, I will endeavor to represent your real estate interests commensurate with the respect you’ve earned by your service to the country.
