About this home
Welcome to a very RARE opportunity to own a remarkable piece of Wythe County, Virginia's history in the beautiful Crockett's Cove. The Crockett family is well known in these parts as the whole road is named from them. John Crockett originally settled this land in the late 1700s and the historic stone home at the side of the family home marks the family's original settlement. This stone house is said to be the oldest standing structure in Wythe County. As story is told that at the time of the Battle of the Cove, some Yankee soldiers raided the stone kitchen and took the corn pones they found cooking there, which in turn kept the stone house safe from harm. This extraordinary property offers a rare glimpse into the area's past with documents that are drenched in history of the Cove its self. The original farmhouse was later built in 1908 by the by John Crockett for his family to reside in which the original log structure situates inside the walls of the newly remodeled home.
This farm house is situated on 25 acres steeped in history dating back to the Civil War era! This 5-bedroom, 4½-bath farmhouse has been thoughtfully restored, blending historic character with modern luxury. I should make mention that each bedroom has their own private bath attached which would be perfect those thinking of making this a bed and breakfast!! The original stained-glass entry doors welcome you inside while the restored exterior log structure showcases the craftsmanship of its early years. A stunning transom-lit window above the staircase serves as a beautiful focal point of the upper foyer. with the four bedrooms.
The gourmet eat-in kitchen is a chef's dream, featuring black leathered granite countertops, custom ceiling-height cabinetry, high-end lighting, two refrigerators, a built-in ice maker, double ovens, and a hidden microwave. Just off the kitchen, the inviting cigar room offers the perfect place to relax, while the covered screened porch provides an ideal spot to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and spectacular sunsets.
The main-level primary suite is a luxurious retreat, complete with a gas-log fireplace, spacious bedroom, glass-enclosed walk-in shower, beautifully refinished antique clawfoot tub, and enormous walk-in closet. The nearby laundry room is equally impressive, featuring floor-to-ceiling cabinetry and beautiful herringbone brick flooring.
Outside, discover the barn, original schoolhouse, spring house, historic Crockett stone home, and peaceful creek along the rear of the property. With its exceptional history, beautifully restored architecture, and 25 acres of picturesque countryside, Crockett's Cove is truly a one-of-a-kind property and a rare opportunity to own a piece of Virginia history. Which makes it perfect for a family home, but also an amazing bed and breakfast or even a wedding venue. The possibilities are truly endless with this rare gem!!
