The Town of La Plata is located about 30 miles southeast of Washington, D.C.,
just east of U.S. Route 301 in Southern Maryland. It serves as the county seat
for the Charles County Government and, since its incorporation in 1888, has
grown into a beautiful town with hundreds of small businesses that serve
Southern Maryland. Though primarily a residential community, La Plata is
experiencing a transformation into a thriving business and commercial center
within daily driving distance to Andrews Air Force Base, Patuxent Naval Air
Station and Washington, D.C. It is home to the University of Maryland Charles
Regional Medical Center and the main campus of the College of Southern Maryland,
as well as a number of entertainment and shopping opportunities.
